Thomas L. Vincent concentrates on business, real estate and construction litigation, including trial and appeal and construction transactions. He has served as member of the firm’s Management Committee.
Tom's construction and real estate practice includes the representation of developers, owners, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and brokers in a wide range of real estate, development, and construction matters, including construction transactional matters, ownership and management disputes, landlord/tenant, defective construction, real estate sales and broker disputes, payment, bond and lien claims, fee and title disputes, and breach of contract matters.
Tom’s recent representative matters include:
- Obtained judgment in an action, following a week-long bench trial, where he successfully defeated a $2.25 million equitable mortgage claim and obtained a $1.7 million award in favor of our client, an intervening plaintiff.
- Won a nearly $10 million jury verdict for a financial institution against a major homebuilder in San Diego County.
- Successfully represented a homebuilder in the first appellate challenge involving the Right to Repair Law also known as SB800 in Greystone Homes, Inc. v. Midtec, Inc.
- Secured the first appellate court published decision, Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital v. UHP Healthcare, that allows a hospital to sue a health care service plan or HMO directly for reimbursement for emergency and medically necessary services provided to the plan's enrollees, even if that hospital has no contract with the plan or HMO.
