Matthew Lewis is an associate in the Employment Law Group in the San Francisco office. Matthew focuses on representing management in employment law and traditional labor law matters before state and federal courts as well as various administrative agencies. His practice includes handling all aspects of labor and employment litigation, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes. Matt also advises and counsels clients on a wide range of employment and labor relations issues in an effort to avoid litigation in the first place.
Before joining Payne & Fears, Matt worked for the labor and employment practice group of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton. He began his career at Meyers Nave, representing public agency employers throughout California in labor and employment issues. During law school, Matt worked as a judicial extern to the Hon. William H. Alsup of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He also served as Comments Editor for the University of San Francisco Law Review.
