Megan Mackie is an associate in the Labor and Employment Group.

Megan represents employers in single-plaintiff and class and representative matters, with a primary focus on single-plaintiff discrimination cases. In turn, she is particularly experienced with discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, family and medical leave, and whistleblower claims. Megan’s focus is on providing clients efficient and effective service while fostering positive relationships with all client contacts.

Background

Prior to joining Payne & Fears, Megan was a Kennedy Fellow through the UVA Law School Foundation. She split the Fellowship between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where she advised law enforcement agents on their operations, and Orange County Counsel, where she worked with the labor and employment team advising and representing county entities.

Megan is an Orange County native, and enjoys boxing, reading, and going to concerts. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Shanti Orange County, a non-profit providing mental health services.

  • Manages a portfolio of California single-plaintiff litigation for a large retail employer.
  • Won summary judgement in a disability discrimination case.
  • Achieved partial summary judgment in a complicated pregnancy discrimination and paid sick leave case.
