Ray represents clients in a wide range of employment and labor law matters in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies. Ray also counsels employers on various labor and employment issues—including complying with federal and state laws.
Immediately before joining Payne & Fears, Ray completed a one-year clerkship at the United States District Court, Central District of California in Los Angeles. Ray worked with nearly a dozen Article III judges, and gained valuable experience with many chambers. Before clerking, Ray worked at a non-profit where he sued and defended against various labor unions.
Ray earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in 2015 and B.A. in Political Science from U.C. Santa Barbara in 2012. In law school, Ray was a Senior Editor on the Southern California Review of Law and Social Justice, co-President of USC’s Federalist Society student chapter, and participated in the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project.
Ray has been a die-hard Lakers, Dodgers, and Rams fan since 2001. In 2015, Ray parlayed his esoteric sports knowledge into fulfilling his childhood dream of becoming a two-time Sports Jeopardy! Champion (even though the show did not exist when Ray was a lad).
