Partner James R. Moss Appointed to Utah State Charter School Board

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, September 19, 2017 – Payne & Fears LLP is pleased to announce that James R. Moss, one of the firm’s partners, has been appointed by Governor Gary R. Herbert to the Utah State Charter School Board.

In 2017, 71,494 students attended Utah’s 127 charter schools. As the largest authorizer in Utah, authorizing over 90% of charter schools in the state, the State Charter School Board works hard to enhance the charter school movement in Utah. Their mission is to provide for positive student outcomes by authorizing, overseeing, and elevating successful public charter schools through a rigorous approval process, effective oversight, and meaningful collaboration.

James R. Moss, Jr. is the managing partner of Payne & Fears LLP’s Salt Lake City office, and continues to work extensively with California clients from the firm’s Irvine office. He represents employers in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies in all areas of employment law, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, class actions, and trade secret litigation. He has obtained summary judgment or trial victories in numerous employment law cases. Jim also serves on the Education Committee of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce.
