Daniel F. Lula is a partner at Payne & Fears LLP, where he specializes in business litigation and focuses on contract, trade secret, unfair competition and corporate governance disputes.  Mr. Lula also has extensive experience representing nonprofit entities, including churches and community organizations, in both property and employment litigation.

Mr. Lula has successfully represented businesses and nonprofits in a wide variety of cases in state and federal courts and arbitration tribunals, including the following reported cases:  Iglesia Evangelica Latina, Inc. v. Southern Pac. Latin Am. Dist. , 173 Cal. App. 4th 420, 93 Cal. Rptr. 3d 75 (2009); Fisher Tool Co. v. Gillet Outillage, 530 F. 3d 1063 (9th Cir. 2008); Better TV, Inc. v. Public Service Board, 42 Fed. Appx. 498 (2d Cir. 2002); and Fisher Tool Co. v. Gillet Outillage, No. 04-7550, 2006 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 38908 (C.D. Cal. June 7, 2006).

Mr. Lula's recent victories include state appeals court decision in favor of a Los Angeles church in a corporate governance disupte; a Ninth Circuit opinion affirming judgment in favor of a New Jersey intellectual property firm sued for malicious prosecution, antitrust and Lanham Act violations; an arbitration award of over $1.1 million in favor of a printing supplies company on its counterclaim for unpaid royalties; and a settlement of a suit against a nonprofit treatment center for abused children in which the plaintiff, its former president, agreed to dismiss his claims and pay the center over $200,000.

Mr. Lula is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and is BV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  He is active in his community and is currently the treasurer of the Orange County Young Republicans.  Mr. Lula previously served as chairman of the stewardship committee at St. Mary of the Angels in Hollywood (2004-2005), and on the vestry of Church of the Advent, Boston, Massachusetts (2002-2003).

Prior to joining Payne & Fears LLP in 2003, Mr. Lula was an associate with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP (now Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP) in Boston, Massachusetts.
